MMM - Messner Mountain Museum
Six places - six exhibitions - six experiences
Reinhold Messner has dedicated to the mountains and the mountain culture a unique project, a network of museums located in six extraordinary places in South Tyrol and Belluno. The Messner Mountain Museum is a place of encounter with the mountains, with mountain people and ultimately with ourselves. Every visit is like a mountain tour, especially recommended when the weather is good, and an MMM round trip (with the MMM Tour Ticket) is a unique experience!
Two of the 6 museums (Corones, Ripa, Juval, Ortles, Dolomites, Firmian), are situated directly near the Berghotel Zirm and are reachable in a few minutes!
The 6 museums:
- MMM Corones - Plan de Corones
- MMM Ripa - Brunico
- MMM Juval - Naturns
- MMM Ortles - Sulden
- MMM Dolomites - Mount Rite, Belluno
- MMM Firmian - Bolzano
MMM Ripa is part of a six-centered encounter with the mountains. Reinhold Messner has chosen Bruneck Castle, once the summer residence of the prince bishops, to present mountain peoples from Asia, Africa, South America and Europe, and to reflect on their cultures, religions and tourism activities. The mountain culture is reflected in the daily lives of their inhabitants, who impart life and history to the mountains of the world. This heritage of the mountains, which has ensured survival over the millennia for the people living high up on the brink of life, can now be appreciated at MMM Ripa – with the help of their dwellings, videos and encounters.
MMM Ripa is open from the second Sunday of May to 1 November from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
and from mid- December to mid- April from 12 noon – 6 p.m.
Doors close at 5 p.m.
Closed on Tuesdays
MMM Corones, situated on the summit plateau of Kronplatz (2275 m),
is dedicated to the supreme discipline of mountaineering, which Reinhold Messner
has strongly influenced. The museum is devoted to alpine history and offers unique views
of the big walls of the Dolomites and the Alps.
MMM Corones is open from the first Sunday of June to the second Sunday of October and from the end of November to mid-April (corresponding to the opening hours of the ropeways). 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Last admission at 3.30 p.m. | Open seven days a week in high season.
