Rocky mountain tops, wide ski runs, steep slopes, snow-covered plateaus: In winter, the Dolomites show themselves at their best – and the organizers of many winter sport events appreciate this snow-white landscape.  

Winter sportsmen from different disciplines meet in the middle of alpine nature, in order to compete with each other. The range of competitions includes for instance the world-famous FIS events in Alta Badia and Gröden/Val Gardena, as well as curling competitions in Valdaora/Olang.

Biathlon in Antholz/ Anterselva

The first biathlon World Cup in Anterselva/Antholz took place in 1975. At that time, biathlon was quite a marginalized kind of sport. Over the years, it has enjoyed increasing popularity and today, biathlon belongs to the most popular winter sports.

In 2007, the world championship in biathlon was hold in the new biathlon centre in Anterselva/Antholz, which earned praise in the international sport scene. Since then, the biathlon World Cup in Anterselva/Antholz has always been an important date in the biathletes’ calendar.
